Its leaf contains an alkaloid known as Hayosayamine. Its seed contains another alkaloid known as Daturin and a little amount of Atropin.

Uses

In traditional medicine, this is a reputed drug in the treatment of rabid dog bites and poisonous insect bites, antiasthamatic, antispasmodic. In acute rheumatism, external application of the paste of leaves is good for relieving Joint inflammations. Application of the juice on the head prepared from the fruit is good for loss of hair.

This is the main ingredient in “Surasadi oil”-a good remedy for relieving Rhinitis and act as a supporter for hair growth. Oral intake of the juice of leaves with honey is a good remedy for small pox and chicken pox.

Administration of oil into the ear is good for getting relief from earache.
